The Castro Daire swimming pool competition was won with a proposal intended to face the low budget we had to deal with. It was designed with rationality and minimizing the materials and the details to a minimum essential. The formal idea consisted in the definition of two volumes separated by a reveal, corresponding each to different functional areas of the program. The little area of land in front of the main facade was designed as an abstract geometric landscape, like a game of squares in concrete and grass where some benches emerged, keeping the idea of belonging to the same general modulatory rule. The project was co-authored by Maria da Conceicao Fernandes and Pedro Rodrigues Architects.
