This is a single family house designed for a couple with two children in a new neighborhood near Torres Vedras. It has two storeys plus a basement, with a program of four bedrooms and an office. The land has 620 square meters and the total construction area is 300 square meters plus 150 square meters of basement area. The challenge of the house’s program was to have the interiors as protected as possible from the neighborhood, but at the same time to have them connected to the private exterior spaces. The formal concept was based on four major planes: a primary white wall with two storeys and a “stone dwarf wall” signaling the main entrance, then there was another heavy white wall on the second storey, over the living room, supported visually by another “stone dwarf wall”. The interior organization has as a central hall with a light steel stair, connecting all the spaces and levels. This project was co-authored by Ana Morgado and was awarded an honorable mention by the City Hall of Torres Vedras.
